Night in Tangier

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen

We kick off with a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains, passing the historic city of Tetouan. To fully enjoy the breathtaking landscape views, we stop to rest at the feet of the Rif mountains in Chefchaouen.

Chefchaouen's medina shows a strong Spanish architectural influence, as it was once part of Spanish Morocco. Its square is filled with vibrant artisanal shops bursting with colors. The city is also home to many rooftop restaurants and cafes available in the riads, where you can enjoy the evening with a nice breeze and wonderful views. Overnight in a traditional riad.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After a tasty breakfast, our journey continues towards Volubilis, crossing over Ouazan and other Rif villages. In Volubilis, we explore the ancient Roman ruins and learn about Moroccan history, discovering the impressive mosaics and archaeological remains of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Continuing to Meknes, we stop for lunch and explore the historical walls of the medina along with the magnificent Bab el Mansour gate, and visit the Moulay Ismail shrine and royal stables. Later in the afternoon, we head to Fes where we spend the night in a traditional riad.

Day 3: Fes Sightseeing

We start the day exploring the oldest city in Morocco, snaking through its alleys and narrow streets. We begin sightseeing at the Royal Palace gate, followed by the Jewish quarter where the first Mellah ever was built in Morocco during the 16th century.

We ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region. We also visit the renowned Tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, you visit various cooperatives and experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes. Overnight in riad.

Day 4: Fes – Rabat – Casablanca

Fes consists of three distinct parts: Fes el Bali (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is the oldest of the three with more than 9,000 narrow streets and alleys fortified by a large wall, Fes-Jdid "new Fez" (home of the Jewish quarter) and the "Ville Nouvelle", the newest sector created during the French occupation.

Later in the day, we drive to Rabat, Morocco's capital city, where we explore its cultural sights including the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. We then continue to Casablanca, Morocco's economic capital, for overnight accommodation.

Day 5: Casablanca – Assilah – Tangier

Today we continue from Casablanca to the charming coastal town of Assilah, known for its whitewashed medina and artistic murals. We explore this picturesque Atlantic coastal town with its Portuguese and Spanish influences.

We then head to Tangier, where we conclude our imperial cities tour. In Tangier, we visit the Portuguese Kasbah, Cap Spartel (the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea), and the famous Caves of Hercules. This marks the end of our 5-day cultural journey through Morocco's imperial heritage.
